Hey it's Shannon!!! I know you're flattered and you should be LOL. So I'm kinda new to this blog thing so I'm slowly getting used to it. But I'm 18 {O YEAH!} and I go to Open High School (c/o 2008). I work at Sunny Day Child Care with ages 2-5 and sometimes the school age children. And I also dance at Pine Camp a member of the CDT (City Dance Troupe). I'm really cool and easy to get along with so feel free to leave comments anytime and keep checking for updates. Thanx~

Essay 1: Posible Topic

I was kind of confused about the initial way we're supposed to go about doing Essay 1. At first I thought we were supposed to write a story. Now that I have a better understanding I think I want my essay to be about how the underdog or less experienced person can teach a lesson. My main focus will be the story Cathedral. I really understand how a blind man can teach a perfectly seeing person how to actually "see" the world. You never really understand anything until you see it from someone else's pointof view. I am completely convinced that a blind person could teach people who can see a lot because they have lived their life understanding the world on a different and deeper level.

I think this is a very interesting topic. Make sure you look at my comments under my "Cathedral" posting. You could use the word underdog, but you could also discuss how those who are disadvantaged, also have advantages. I think you could find very interesting research on how the blind compensate for their blindness with a heightened sense of hearing or smelling. How does a handicap like blindness help blind people actually better "see" the world? I think this topic has lots of potential.

I totall agree, i think blind people can defenitly teach non blind people a lot. BLind people have a completly different view point, and they everything they know is so much different then what non blind people know.
i think this would be an interesting topic to work with.
